Tnonggong Planter

Inspired by the tenonggong, this planter takes its form from the traditional two-headed barrel drum of the Tboli people. The tenonggong is known for its deep, resonant sound—played in public gatherings to mark movement, rhythm, and shared energy.
The planter echoes that presence through its rounded body, banded detailing, and textural surface, referencing the drum’s wooden form, rattan bindings, and stretched skin. Subtle folds and markings give the piece a worn, lived-in quality, much like an instrument shaped by use and time.
Designed as both a vessel and a quiet nod to cultural memory, this planter holds space—grounded, steady, and meant to be part of everyday life rather than a display object alone.
